If all you know about Scotland comes from direct tv specials about the Creature of the Lake, think again. Our bodies of water are many and varied and if you’re planning a trip here you can’t miss these OTHER lakes. Just don’t expect a sea monster
Loch Arkaig: It’s as beautiful as it is long – you may mistake it for a river at first – as it’s nestled in the Scottish highlands. It’s a journey up here but the view is totally worth it.
Loch Leven: If you want a lake with a little more to do, Loch Leven’s your place. You can’t swim in it (it’s cold here!) but if the kiddies are looking for entertainment take them out to Castle Island to explore the 18th century castle still standing in this one.
Loch Tay: As deserted as it is beautiful, Loch Tay is pure Scotland. It makes for a romantic day trip as well as some great photographs but be sure to bring your rain jacket. It’s always raining here and there’s nowhere to get out of the deluge.

The Borders & Galloway Regions is known for its salmon. This is because it is along the shoreline of Isle of Whithorn. This makes the great fishing spot for the people who are fishing for trout. The second fishing spot is Argyll & the Southern Hebrides. Argyll & the Southern Hebrides is split up in two different spots along the peninsula of Kintyre. There are about 50 different places where a person can do a lot of prime freshwater-angling, which makes this area very popular.I found some more information here.

The third fishing spot is Tayside. Tayside is located of the northeast side of Scotland so there are a lot of major rivers around it like the the Don, Dee, Ythan, and Deverson Rivers along with a small one. The small one is Ugie is one of the best places to go salmon fishing. The fourth fishing spot is Sutherland & Northern Highlands. Sutherland & Northern Highlands gives people a lot of possibilities for people who like to angler fish. But trout fishing is also very popular here. Plus there is also a hotel close by where a chef will cook the fish that you have caught.
