Think Outside the Loch: Other than Ness…

If all you know about Scotland comes from direct tv specials about the Creature of the Lake, think again. Our bodies of water are many and varied and if you’re planning a trip here you can’t miss these OTHER lakes. Just don’t expect a sea monster
Loch Arkaig: It’s as beautiful as it is long – you may mistake it for a river at first – as it’s nestled in the Scottish highlands. It’s a journey up here but the view is totally worth it.
Loch Leven: If you want a lake with a little more to do, Loch Leven’s your place. You can’t swim in it (it’s cold here!) but if the kiddies are looking for entertainment take them out to Castle Island to explore the 18th century castle still standing in this one.
Loch Tay: As deserted as it is beautiful, Loch Tay is pure Scotland. It makes for a romantic day trip as well as some great photographs but be sure to bring your rain jacket. It’s always raining here and there’s nowhere to get out of the deluge.
